“The Invisible Man Sequel in the Works: Elisabeth Moss Confirms Plans with Director Leigh Whannell”
Leigh Whannell and Elisabeth Moss Planning ‘The Invisible Man’ Sequel
In February 2020, just before theaters were shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Leigh Whannell’s “The Invisible Man,” starring Elisabeth Moss, was released to critical acclaim and commercial success. The horror remake, made on a modest $7 million budget, grossed nearly $144 million at the box office, showcasing Whannell’s stellar direction and Cronenberg-esque vibes.
Now, it seems that a sequel to “The Invisible Man” may be in the works. On a recent episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Moss confirmed that she and Whannell are in the process of planning a follow-up to the hit film.
“We are closer than we’ve ever been to cracking it, and I feel very good about it, and we are very much intent on continuing that story,” Moss revealed.
While Moss won’t be appearing in Whannell’s current project, “Wolf Man,” she did hint at a potential crossover between the two films as part of Universal’s planned monster-verse.
“I think that’s the idea of Universal in the future, if ‘Wolf Man’ goes well and all of that, is to kind of revive that universe. But, no, unfortunately, I have not been asked to be in ‘Wolf Man,'” Moss explained.
Fans of Whannell’s work, including his previous films “Upgrade” and “The Invisible Man,” may be eager to see what he has in store for the monster-verse. However, some are hoping that he will continue to pursue original projects alongside these franchise films.
Regardless, the news of a potential sequel to “The Invisible Man” is sure to excite fans of the original film and leave them eagerly anticipating what Whannell and Moss have in store for the next chapter of this thrilling story.
