Michael Mann’s “Heat 2” to Begin Production in Fourth Quarter of 2024
The highly anticipated sequel to Michael Mann’s iconic film “Heat” is officially in the works! According to a listing in this week’s Production Weekly, “Heat 2” is set to start production in the fourth quarter of 2024, with filming likely to begin in October or November.
Last month, Mann confirmed in an interview with Radio France that “Heat 2” is his next project, with the script already in the works. The film is described as both a prequel and sequel to the original, promising to delve deeper into the characters and story that fans have come to love.
Despite the lukewarm reception of Mann’s recent film “Ferrari,” which struggled at the box office and failed to generate awards buzz, the director remains committed to bringing “Heat 2” to the big screen. The sequel is said to feature time jumps, starting in 1988 and jumping to 2000, with a new cast taking on the iconic roles originally played by Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
Rumors are swirling about the casting choices for “Heat 2,” with Adam Driver reportedly set to play the role of Neil MacCauley. Other actors, including Austin Butler and Ana de Armas, are said to have been offered roles in the film.
Based on Mann’s own published novel, which became a best-seller in 2022, “Heat 2” promises to be a thrilling continuation of the original saga. With production set to begin later this year, fans can start counting down the days until they can return to the world of “Heat” once again.
