Critics Slam Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘Unfrosted’ – World of Reel

Jerry Seinfeld’s “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” Review and Release Information

Jerry Seinfeld’s “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” has finally made its debut on Netflix, and the reactions are in – and they’re not good. The film, which tells the story of the breakfast battle between Kellogg’s and Post that led to the creation of the frosted pastry, has received a 39% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by Seinfeld himself, the star-studded cast includes Melissa McCarthy, Hugh Grant, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Christian Slater, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, James Marsden, Fred Armisen, and Maria Bakalova. The screenplay was penned by four writers.

Set in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1963, “Unfrosted” follows the intense competition between Kellogg’s and Post as they vie to revolutionize breakfast with the creation of the iconic Pop-Tart. The film explores the corporate ambition, betrayal, and chaos that ensued as the two companies raced to bring dessert for breakfast to the masses.

Described by Seinfeld as “a colorful, dumb, silly comedy,” the film has been a long time in the making. Originally slated for release in early 2023, “Unfrosted” was finally made available for streaming on Netflix after a delay.

Despite the mixed reviews, “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” is sure to be a quirky and entertaining addition to this year’s Netflix lineup.
