NewFest Reveals Complete Lineup for 4th Annual ‘Newfest Pride’ Summer Film Event

NewFest Pride Summer Film Series Lineup Revealed

NewFest, a New York LGBTQ+ film and media organization, has announced the lineup for their fourth annual NewFest Pride summer film series. The five-day festival will take place from May 30 to June 3, 2024, both in-person in New York and streaming throughout the United States. The festival will feature a mix of premieres, conversations, virtual screenings, and social events.

Executive Director David Hatkoff expressed excitement for the event, stating, “It’s no accident that this year’s NewFest Pride starts on May 30; it’s part of our not-so-secret mission to celebrate Pride 365 days a year.” The festival aims to provide a space for the LGBTQ+ community to come together for bold new films, thought-provoking conversations, and joyful social gatherings.

Director of Programming Nick McCarthy added, “We’re delighted to celebrate highly anticipated films from TIFF, Sundance, and SXSW making their triumphant New York Premieres, and to launch the World Premiere of the evocative and textured HAZE from NewFest alum writer/director Matthew Fifer.”

The lineup includes over 10 feature films and series, with notable names such as Elliot Page, Julio Torres, Aubrey Plaza, Dakota Johnson, Trixie Mattel, and Tig Notaro. The festival will open with the New York Premiere of the Fire Island documentary “A House is Not a Disco” and will also feature the World Premiere of the psychological thriller “Haze.”

In addition to film screenings, NewFest will present a free outdoor screening of the cult queer film “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar” at The Rink at Rockefeller Center. The festival will also include virtual screenings of feature films, episodic series, and a shorts program.

Individual tickets and all-access passes to NewFest Pride are now on sale at newfest.org. Stay tuned for additional programming announcements in the coming weeks.
