Producer Faces Lawsuit Over Docuseries ‘Quiet on Set’

Dan Schneider Sues Investigation Discovery for Defamation Over Portrayal in “Quiet on Set”

Dan Schneider, the prolific producer of children’s television series, has filed a lawsuit against Investigation Discovery for defamation over his portrayal in the docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” Schneider accuses the company of falsely implying that he sexually abused children who worked on the Nickelodeon shows he created and ran.

In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Schneider claims that the docuseries is a “hit job” and that he had no knowledge of the abuse committed by two child sexual abusers who worked on network shows. He condemns their actions and asserts that he was not a child sexual abuser himself.

Schneider seeks unspecified damages and a court order to remove allegedly defamatory portions of the docuseries or have it taken down completely. He acknowledges his past mistakes and poor judgment during his time at Nickelodeon but states that he had no choice but to take legal action against those behind the docuseries.

The docuseries, which debuted to massive ratings, chronicles Schneider’s rise in the industry and includes allegations of a toxic workplace and mistreatment of cast and crew on his TV sets. Schneider takes issue with the producers implying that he sexually abused children who worked on his shows, citing misleading editing and manipulative use of images to falsely equate him with known child sexual abusers.

Despite the success of “Quiet on Set,” Schneider maintains that the producers acted with malice and disregard for the truth in their portrayal of him. The docuseries plans to continue investigating kids entertainment in Hollywood, but Schneider’s lawsuit aims to set the record straight and protect his reputation and legacy.
