Jerry Seinfeld’s Dream of Casting Daniel Day-Lewis in Netflix Pop-Tart Comedy “Unfrosted”
Jerry Seinfeld had big plans for his directorial debut with Netflix’s upcoming comedy “Unfrosted.” The comedian revealed that he had hoped to cast the legendary actor Daniel Day-Lewis as a sugar drug lord in the film. Seinfeld envisioned Day-Lewis playing the role similar to his iconic performance in “There Will Be Blood.”
Despite his ambitious dream, Seinfeld admitted that he never reached out to Day-Lewis, who is famously retired from acting. The comedian joked that if there was anything worth coming out of retirement for, it would be a Pop-Tart movie like “Unfrosted.”
The film, which is a fictional origin story of Pop-Tarts, follows a competition between breakfast rivals Kellogg’s and Post in 1963 to create a popular pastry. It features a star-studded cast of comedians including Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, and Amy Schumer.
While Day-Lewis may have missed out on the opportunity to star in “Unfrosted,” the film promises to be a hilarious and entertaining look at the creation of the beloved breakfast snack. “Unfrosted” is set to premiere on Netflix this Friday, offering viewers a mix of historical accuracy and comedic absurdity.
